Wedding at Villa Grazioli, Rome
This wedding had to be the first blog post on my new site, as I got to be both a guest and a wedding photographer in Rome. Among other firsts I had never shot a wedding of this size and it was striking both in its simplicity and elegance.
Donna and Bud are good friends from California, both fascinating people and accomplished writers who I was lucky enough to meet through the same friend who introduced me to my wife. In September of 2017, 12 of us descended on Villa Grazioli, a gorgeous 16th century hilltop property overlooking Rome. Each guest was more fascinating than the last and I was amazed that such a small group of people could fill a room with so much love, laughter and lively conversation.
Of course, this wedding was made even more special because I got to work and celebrate with my wife, couture designer Angelina Haole, who custom made Donna’s gown. It was the first time I had the opportunity to shoot one of her gowns since the first of her dresses that I encountered in Verona, (which would eventually lead me to California and to her, but that’s a story for another day.)
I have a special affinity for these photos. There was so much love between and surrounding these two and you can feel it in their expressions and in the magic “something” that comes through so clearly in the photos. I hope you enjoy getting a glimpse into this truly special wedding.
